VR Transpoint improves service by focusing on core businesses

We have concluded a letter of intent with Itella Plc on a business transaction by which Itella Logistics acquires VR Transpoint's groupage logistics business operations in Finland.

The net sales of groupage logistics operations subject to the letter of intent amount to approximately €130m and its staff numbers over 800. The traded business operations include groupage transports in Finland and service warehousing.

The deal is expected to be realised in about three months. The realisation of the deal requires approval from the competition authorities.

VR Transpoint focuses in the future on mass goods logistics and on developing its rail and road sectors. Transpoint International (FI) Oy which operates international road logistics will continue to be an important part of VR Transpoint's operations and the letter of intent does not affect its operations or range of services. By developing our business operations we seek to serve our customers even better by providing the most suitable form of transport in each case: train, road vehicle or a combination of both.

The deal does not affect current agreements in force which remain effective as before.
